If our mind is good, everything we do, say, or think will be good. However, people's minds, by their nature, do not have the capacity or depth to reach a state of complete and absolute purity, brightness, and tranquility. Without training, we cannot manage our minds at all because our minds are accustomed to being infatuated, attached, clouded, and affected by emotions, deluded by emotions, concocting emotions, and clinging to emotions.
To learn and truly understand emotions and let go of them, this process must occur entirely within the mind. We will observe our mind being inattentive, and when sensations arise, we absorb the feelings and emotions, experiencing suffering within those sensations. When particular contact occurs, the mind recognizes it and either likes or dislikes it. When contact that causes pleasant sensations occurs, we cling to it with craving. When contact causes unpleasant sensations, we push it away, anxiety and fear arise, and we push it out. The mind then becomes suffering.
